Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons cajun seasoning (I like Slap Ya Mama seasoning or Tony Chachere's)
  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon dried thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon dried parsley flakes

Method

  1. Heat your 5-quart air fryer to 380°F and let it warm up for about 5 minutes.
  2. Cut the chicken breasts into one-inch pieces and toss them in a bowl with olive oil until every piece is lightly coated.
  3. Add cajun seasoning, granulated sugar, kosher salt, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, poultry seasoning, dried thyme, and dried parsley; mix thoroughly so the chicken is evenly spiced.
  4. Lightly spray your air fryer basket with olive oil spray to prevent sticking, then arrange the chicken pieces in a single layer inside, cooking in batches if needed.
  5. Cook for 7 to 11 minutes, shaking or turning the pieces every few minutes to ensure they cook evenly and reach an internal temperature of 165°F; serve right away.

Notes

  • The granulated sugar helps mellow out the spices and adds a nice caramelized color, similar to Chick-Fil-A nuggets. If you prefer less heat, reduce the cajun seasoning or omit the red pepper flakes. You can substitute creole seasoning for the cajun if desired. Cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model, so adjust as needed.
