Cozy Grandma is a small corner of the internet for slow, handmade things: free patterns, junk journals, simple craft tools, and the comfort recipes where it all began.
Our story
We started with recipes. Comfort food for busy families is where Cozy Grandma began, and those recipes are still here.
Along the way, many of you asked for crafts, so we opened a junk journal corner with ideas, free printables and the vintage paper kits we design for our Etsy shop.
Today, free patterns come first. We want everyone who loves slow, handmade projects to find a pattern, follow it step by step on their phone, and make something with their own hands, without paying and without signing up.
What you will find here
Free patterns
Free alpha bracelet patterns, from flowers and animals to Christmas designs. Each page lists the DMC threads, the written rows and a knot-by-knot guide that ticks off your rows as you go.
Junk Journal
Ideas for beginners, simple techniques, supply lists, seasonal themes and free printables to add to your pages.
Free craft tools
Simple tools that make a pattern for you. Type a name or a word in the cross stitch text generator and download a printable PDF chart with its DMC thread list. No account, no email.
Recipes
Our original comfort recipes for busy families: grandma’s classics, chicken dinners and sourdough baking.
How our patterns are made
Each pattern starts from an original design, and its page tells you where that design comes from. Our software turns the design into a pattern, checks it, and picks the nearest DMC thread for every color.
No pattern has been knotted or stitched on real thread yet, and the colors on your screen are close matches rather than exact ones. Compare them with your real skeins before you start, and treat your first try as a test run.
Using our patterns
Our patterns, and the PDFs you make with our free tools, are for personal use only. Make them for yourself or as a gift. Please do not sell or share the patterns or the PDFs, and do not sell items made from them.
