A dark witch hat with a tan band and a little yellow buckle, with rust and orange leaves drifting down on a soft sage green, worked with seven threads. It is 24 knots wide and 30 rows long, a good one for a cozy afternoon in autumn.
The hat leans a little to the right, so follow the diagonal edge row by row, and keep the buckle two knots tall and four knots wide.
How to use this pattern
This pattern is 24 knots wide, so cut 24 base strings, one for every knot across. Then cut one leading string for each of the 7 colors in the thread list. The busiest color is A (DMC 3817, 414 knots), so give it the longest leading string.
Tie the rows from the top. Odd rows are tied left to right with forward knots, and even rows right to left with backward knots. The guide shows each thread's path, ticks off finished rows and walks you through the band one knot at a time.
This pattern has never been knotted on real thread, and the colors on screen are close matches to DMC floss, not exact ones. Compare them with your real skeins before you start.
