A six-band rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple) resting on two white clouds, on a light sky blue background, framed in dusty rose. The banner is 20 strands wide and 24 beads long, 480 beads in all, in 9 colors of pony beads.

Why we call it easy: it is the smallest banner in our set, 480 beads on 20 short strands. It does use 9 colors, and the 6 middle strands change color on almost every bead at the top of the arch, so check those strands twice. The rainbow legs are straight, so the outer strands have long runs of one color (up to 9 beads).

Follow the guide strand by strand: tie each strand to the rod, then thread its beads from the top down. The bead count for every color is in the list, so you can buy exactly what you need.

How to make this banner

This banner has 20 strands side by side, and every strand holds 24 beads: 480 beads in all, in 9 colors. The beads hang in straight columns, one strand per column.

What you need

Bead count

Steps

  1. Tie strand 1 to the left end of the rod.
  2. Thread its beads in the order of the guide: the first bead goes up against the rod, the last one is at the bottom.
  3. Tie a knot under the last bead so nothing slides off, then do strand 2 right next to it, and so on to strand 20.

The finished size depends on your beads: measure one bead and multiply by 20 across and 24 down. This banner has never been made with real beads, and the colors on screen are close matches, not exact ones. Make one strand first and check it against the picture.
