Steps

Tie strand 1 to the left end of the rod.
Thread its beads in the order of the guide: the first bead goes up against the rod, the last one is at the bottom.
Tie a knot under the last bead so nothing slides off, then do strand 2 right next to it, and so on to strand 42.

The finished size depends on your beads: measure one bead and multiply by 42 across and 59 down. This banner has never been made with real beads, and the colors on screen are close matches, not exact ones. Make one strand first and check it against the picture.
